Fraxel 1927 Laser For Pigment

The 1927 nm wavelength is intended for the treatment of superficial indications due to its much higher absorption in the superficial layer of the skin. Higher pulse energies form deeper coagulation zones and affect more tissue volume. Therefore increasing pulse energy may produce more significant biological responses as well as side effects, especially off the face.

This new wavelength is 1927 nanometers and is very specific and effective at treating brown pigment including sun damage lentigines (sun spots), aging spots, and melasma. Remarkable results and clearance of pigments may occur within 7 to 10 days in as few as one treatment, depending on the condition of the pigmentations. The treatments are very tolerable and the face and entire body can be treated with the Fraxel® Dual Laser.

Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 laser treatment targets aging and sun-damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin to expedite your body’s remodeling of collagen. Since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes very rapid healing. Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 treatment resurfaces your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.

The Fraxel Procedure

On the day of treatment topical numbing is left on the skin for approximately one hour prior to the treatment. The actual laser treatment is approximately 20 minutes. During the actual treatment you will feel a warm prickling sensation on the skin which most clients describe as tolerable. Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel warm which is comparable to a mild sunburn for 1 to 2 hours post-treatment. Redness and swelling is common, however, the degree of redness and swelling will vary from individual to individual. This reaction or pinkness will persist anywhere between three to five days which will be accompanied by bronzing (the skin will have a bronze appearance for 3 to 14 days) and flaking of the skin. Normally a moisturizing cream will minimize the appearance of flaking or peeling. While the skin regenerates and flakes, sunscreen should be applied on a daily basis to protect against sun exposure during the healing process. You may apply make-up and you are able to shave within 24 hour after the treatment.

NOTE: Individual Results May Vary

Fraxel FAQs

Post treatment, erythema or redness is normally along with some slight swelling on the skin. The skin may feel very warm for a few hours post treatment. A cold compress may be applied to the skin to sooth the area immediately after treatment. Over the next few days you may notice a bronzing on the skin which is the coagulated areas surfacing. Flaking or granular peeling is common post treatment.
The number of treatments required varies depending on the severity of the condition. Those with severe scarring or deep wrinkles may require 3 to 6 treatments or more. Treatment intervals are 6-8 weeks apart.
Your skin will benefit from every Fraxel treatment. Different degrees of improvement are typically visible after every treatment. Since the treatment deals with collagen building and re-modelling, it does take time to see the full benefit of a single treatment. This time varies anywhere from 2 to 4 months.
Fraxel is one of the only lasers for acne/collagen remodelling which is FDA approved for all skin types. Since Fraxel is a fractional technology meaning we do not treat the entire surface of the skin, there is less trauma on the skin and your body is able to repair the area safely and quickly. We may recommend pre-treating the skin with a HQ which would ensure the safest and most aggressive treatment possible.
